This is a lightweight side table by German designer Sebastian Herkner that pairs a colourful woven top with a contrasting steel base.

It is made by Colombian artesanos and artesanas using a technique called ¡°momposino¡± ¨C a method that is especially popular in Colombia's Santa Marta region on the Caribbean coast. The coloured strings are made from recycled PVC and are woven by hand around a fire-galvanised steel frame to create different patterns. The steel frame is fire galvanised to protect the material from rust and corrosion by bathing it in molten zinc. Afterwards, the frame is powder coated with a coloured lacquer. Just the preparation of all the materials takes 20 days, while the production of each table takes two days.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, adds a touch of colourful elegance to a terrace or garden room.
